Blocking enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the detection of specific antibodies to Epizootic hemorrhagic disease virus in serum, plasma, blood or blood dried onto filter paper samples from cattle, sheep, goat, or deer.
Details
Epizootic hemorrhagic disease (EHD) is an Orbivirus infection transmitted by Culicoides midges. Since 2022, the disease has spread across Europe, causing mortality and reduced productivity in cattle and other ruminants. Clinical signs may include fever, edema, lameness, respiratory distress, and in severe cases, hemorrhages or sudden death. Due to its similarity to bluetongue and other viral diseases, reliable serological tools are essential for differential diagnosis and epidemiological surveillance.
The INgezim® EHDV Compac ELISA is a competitive assay designed for the qualitative detection of antibodies against the VP7 protein of EHDV, which is highly conserved across serotypes. The test demonstrates excellent diagnostic performance, with a sensitivity of 99.9% and a specificity of 99.8% (n = 2696). It has been validated for whole blood, serum, plasma, and blood dried on filter paper, facilitating sample collection and transport. High exclusivity has been confirmed, with no cross-reactivity to related Orbiviruses such as BTV, nor to antibodies against TB, BVD, or IBR.
The assay features a simplified protocol without sample pre dilution and includes room temperature incubations. It is validated for multiple species, including cattle, sheep, goats, deer, and mouflon, and is available in two formats (2 or 5 plates). INgezim® EHDV Compac is registered in Spain.
Only for veterinary in-vitro diagnostic use.
