In recent years, Epizootic Hemorrhagic Disease (EHD) has moved from being a regional concern to a growing challenge for ruminant health across Europe. Fast spread, clinical severity, and its similarity to other viral diseases have made one thing clear: accurate, reliable serology is no longer optional, it’s essential.
INgezim® EHDV Compac
A new blocking ELISA designed for the qualitative detection of antibodies against Epizootic Hemorrhagic Disease Virus (EHDV) in:
- Cow
- Goat
- Sheep
- Deer
- Mouflon
Available formats:
- 5 plates - INgezim® EHDV Compac 480 tests
- 2 plates - INgezim® EHDV Compac 192 tests
Why EHD demands better diagnostics
EHD is caused by an Orbivirus transmitted by Culicoides midges. Since 2022, outbreaks have expanded throughout Europe, affecting both domestic and wild ruminants.
One of the biggest diagnostic challenges?
Its strong clinical resemblance to Bluetongue and other viral infections. When symptoms overlap, precision matters. Surveillance programs, outbreak investigations, and herd-level screening require tools that are both sensitive and highly specific.
What makes INgezim® EHDV Compac different?
Highly Conserved Target Protein → The assay uses a recombinant VP7 protein, conserved across EHDV serotypes, enabling broad and reliable detection.
Excellent Diagnostic Performance (n=2696) → Confidence in every result.
- Bluetongue virus (BTV)
- Tuberculosis
- BVD
- IBR
Flexible Sample Types → Validated for: Serum, Plasma, Whole blood, Blood dried on filter paper.
Simplified Workflow → Designed for efficiency without compromising robustness: No sample pre-dilution required and room temperature incubations.
How it works
- Microplates are coated with recombinant VP7 protein.
- If antibodies are present in the sample, they bind to the antigen.
- A peroxidase-labeled monoclonal antibody competes for binding.
- Negative sample: conjugate binds → color develops
- Positive sample: antibodies block binding → reduced color signal
- Substrate is added and the reaction is read colorimetrically.
- Two predefined cut-offs classify samples as positive or negative.
