Roger Salquist, Board of Directors

Roger Salquist has over 35 years experience as a senior executive in the Life Sciences Industry. He was a Founding Partner and Managing Director of Bay City Capital, a San Franciso-based merchant bank and Venture Capital Partnership. Previously he was Chairman and CEO of Calgene Inc. for twelve years. Calgene was a Davis, California-based agribusiness biotechnology company that was acquired by Monsanto Corporation in 1996. Mr. Salquist has served as Chairman of Endosonics Corporation, Celtrix Pharmaceutical, and, most recently, Lipomics Technologies, a metabolomics diagnostic discovery company. He also served on the Board of Directors of Collagen Corporation for over ten years.

Mr. Salquist was Founding Chairman of the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) Food and Agriculture Division. He is currently a Trustee of the University of San Francisco and serves on the Advisory Board of the UC Davis Graduate School of Management Center for Entrepeneurship. Mr. Salquist received his BA and MBA from Stanford University. He served for six years as an officer in the US Navy Nuclear Submarine Service. He is currently retired and lives in Friday Harbor, Washington, and Davis California.

 

Dr. Robert L. Lorber

Dr. Robert L. Lorber is President of The Lorber Kamai Consulting Group, a firm formed in 1976. The organization has implemented productivity improvement systems for companies on five continents. The Lorber Kamai Consulting Group's client roster has included Kraft Foods, SantaFe International, Teichert Inc., Occidental Petroleum, Gillette, Sutter Health, American Express, Mattel, AlliedSignal, Raley's, VSP, Teichert Inc., Maxtor, ETS, Wells Fargo, Waste Connections, Pillsbury, Pfizer, Kaufman and Broad, Tower Records, PRIDE Industries and many other medium-size and Fortune 500 companies.

Dr. Lorber is an internationally recognized expert and published author on executive coaching, performance management, leadership, teamwork, life planning culture and developing strategy. He is the Chairman of Levy Lorber Consulting, an international consulting firm headquartered in Vancouver, British Columbia. Bob, as is known to most of his clients is considered one of the leading resources worldwide on executive coaching with Chief Executive Officers and Senior Executives. He is the co-author of the New York Times bestseller Putting The One Minute Manager To Work, which he created with the renowned management consultant Dr. Ken Blanchard, One Page Management, co-authored with Dr. Riaz Khadem, and Safety 2/7 with Greg Anderson. Doing What Matters with Jim Kilts, retired CEO of Gillette was published by Random House September 2007 with a forward by Warren Buffet. Who Are You and What Do You Want? with Dr. Mick Ukleja was published by Meredith May 2008. Dr. Lorber is an established professional speaker who has delivered presentations for profit and non-profit audiences throughout the world. He has also shared his insights with television, radio and newspaper audiences across the country. He has received many awards and honors in his field.

Dr. Lorber works with numerous Boards of Directors on Governance and effective Board participation. Currently he serves as Chairman of the Dean's Advisory Council for the Graduate School of Management at UC Davis, the UC Davis School of Medicine's Board of Visitors and many other corporate and not for profit Boards. Some of these include: Tower Records, The Blanchard Companies, Basic American Industries, The Hugh O'Brian Youth Foundation, The Sacramento Region Community Foundation, Sukut Construction, Sacramento Entrepreneurship Academy, LeadershipTraq, J&M Realty, Co-Chair of the PRIDE Foundation, the Board of Governors of the Ukleja Center For Ethical Leadership.

In addition to his executive coaching, consulting, writing and speaking pursuits, Dr. Lorber is a an Associate Professor of his alma mater -- the Graduate School of Management of the University of California at Davis - where he teaches two courses on Leadership. Dr. Lorber received a Masters Degree in Sociology and a Ph.D. in Organizational Psychology. He resides in Davis, California with his wife Sandy and their three daughters Tracie, Lindie and Kaylie.

 

Karen F. Kupferberg

Karen Kupferberg has more than 30 years of experience in corporate financial management. She began her career on Wall Street as a securities analyst for E.F. Hutton. She then spent several years at the Xerox Corporation and almost 20 years at Digital Equipment Corporation, in financial roles of increasing responsibility. Her last two positions were as Vice President and Corporate Controller for EMC Corporation and as EVP and CFO of Axeda Systems Inc., a small public software company.

Karen is a member of the Board of Directors and chair of the audit committees of Fiduciary Trust Company, Old Mutual Asset Management Trust Co., and Securities Finance Trust Co. Additionally, Karen also serves on the Board of Directors, as President for the Boston Area Rape Crisis Center, as Treasurer for the Commonwealth Institute and as a member of the Trinity College Board of Fellows.

Karen has a B.S. in Mathematics from Trinity College in Hartford, CT and an MBA from the Wharton School.
